Many years ago we put together a
simple guide for filtering used oil.
It is very simple in comparison to some of the sophisticated designs
you might find on the web, however this has worked well with our own
vehicles since 2002 so sometimes, as in this case, keeping it simple can be
a good policy. We have modified our system slightly since that original
guide was put together. We now use a New Zealand Pump since the rotary
pumps kept breaking. We don't have the gauge on the side because it isn't
necessary - you can just either look in the filters to see how much oil
is there or tip the barrel to see how heavy it is. We don't use the denim
pre-filters any more we just use a single 5 micron filter. It should
be noted that the oil we use is very lightly used and is not contaminated with water.
